The Sixth Annual Pierce-Davis Memorial & Lee R. Hall Invitational Tourney Dec. 4th, 1999 Well at least we saw the results first while directing the tournament. First tournament that I have had a chance to direct in a few years. We finished ahead of schedule and expectations in spite of or maybe because of the tournament being conducted by hand and not computer. The facilities were a bit limiting with the event being moved to West Edgecombe Middle School with only 3 days notice. Official & Final Team Scores; Place-Team Points-Champs-2nds-3rds-4ths 1. Keny Alphin of West Craven and Michael Christopher of Tarboro became the first three time champions of the Pierce-Davis Tournament. Christopher won his 112th career match to tie the school record at Tarboro High. The TDR’s nomination for outstanding wrestler went to Greg Weeks of SouthWest Edgecombe for his exciting and hard fought Overtime win over neighboring rival Devoris Hinton of Tarboro. This match brought more of the crowd to their feet yelling than any other finals match.
